PEVERIL CASTLE - DERBYSHIRE

PEVERIL CASTLE

Peveril Castle is a ruined early medieval castle overlooking the village of Castleton in Derbyshire. It was the head of the Honour of Peverel, and was founded some time between the Norman Conquest of 1066.

From the end of the 14th century to the present day, the castle has been owned and administered by the Duchy of Lancaster. Peveril Castle is cared for by English Heritage and situated in a national park, it is protected as a scheduled monument and a Grade I listed building.

On one of our investigations here, NGRIT-UK experienced hearing strange, disembodied voices and footsteps coming from outside (the castle is on a large hill and no one was outside when we heard the footsteps and voices). During the investigation Keren and two other investigators went outside to see where the footsteps and voices were coming from and, as they did so, they all saw a metal gate open and close of its own accord followed by someone unseen whistling.
