HELMSLEY CASTLE - NORTH YORKSHIRE

Helmsley Castle

Helmsley Castle is a medieval castle towering over the attractive market town of Helmsley, North Yorkshire and surrounded by spectacular banks and ditches. Originally constructed in wood around 1120, the conversion to stone began in 1186.

When NGRIT-UK conducted one of our investigations here, we were accompanied by a member of Helmsley Castle staff, a representative of English Heritage and two reporters from a local radio station. The main paranormal activity experienced was a motion sensor security light switching on and off without an obvious trigger (or equipment failure), sounds of shuffling noises and footsteps when all team members were present and still, streaks or flashes of light (most intriguingly, after one member asked for a light to be shown, there was a flash of white light in response, and one of our observers believes he felt something brush against his leg).
